Stress is something that almost everyone talks about at least once a week. When stress is becoming a big part of your daily discussion or you feel stressed so much, it’s advisable to look into it. Good morning from here dear readers. It’s 6.18 am here in Boston. I woke up about an hour ago and was thinking about what to write to my readers on before starting my day. I decided to write a little bit about stress and how to manage it.“
Stress can be defined as the degree to which you feel overwhelmed or unable to cope as a result of pressures that are unmanageable”, (Mental health.org).

According to Timothy J. Legg, Ph.D., there are several types of stress. These include acute stress. episodic acute stress. Chronic stress (Chronic stress includes: anxiety, cardiovascular disease, depression, high blood pressure, a weakened immune system).
“Stress isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s what helped our hunter-gatherer ancestors survive, and it’s just as important in today’s world. It can be healthy when it helps you avoid an accident, meet a tight deadline, or keep your wits about you amid chaos”, (Timothy J. Legg, Ph.D.).
Dr.Timothy stated that stress is not necessarily bad, depending on what you do with the stressful situation. Did it help you meet a deadline or avoid an accident? The outcome of the situation I believe makes it more stressful or otherwise. I would say it is not necessarily bad so far it is not chronic as shown above.
One of the ways I have been able to manage stress is to do my best in being happy while going about my daily activities. I try to take long showers, the water pouring down helps me. Sometimes I listen to music while working, I look out for situations to laugh about, and I do my best to reflect on how my day went within 2 -5 minutes before going to bed at night. If I’m not able to reflect at night, I do my best to prepare my mind consciously for the task ahead of me the next morning. Above all I talk to God, who is my best friend each morning and night peven if it is just for 2 minutes, asking him to guide and bless my day. My favorite go-to quick prayer is ‘this is the day that the Lord has made and blessed, I will rejoice and be glad in it, order my steps, dear Lord. It has not been super easy, but God has been faithful.
