REFLECTION

St. Catherine of Sienna once said, Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire. Paul indeed sets his audience and the world on fire. In today’s first reading, Paul in a historical way tells his audience( in the synagogue with a mixture of Jews and the pagan believers), that Jesus the Son of David, the Root of Jesse, He is the Messiah that all scriptures talks about. He has already been foretold of forever. He has always existed. He is the uncreated One who became one of us, as an infant-His creation.

Paul says that all books of the laws and the prophets is speaking of Jesus. You look at the scripture you see Jesus in all parts of the Bible. You take a look Genesis, He is the Creator. In Exodus, He is deliverer and the great provider, In Judges, He is champion of Israel and the eternal judge. In the book of kings, He is the king of kings and the Lord of lords. All the gospels speaks of Jesus. In the Epistles, He is the love of the Father, the image of the invisible God. The high priest . He is the fulfillment of the revelation of the Father.

Jesus says “If you have seen me you have seen the Father. When we go through uncertainties in life, when we go through worries and struggles, when we are locked and cannot move any longer? we ask, why this ?why that ? Why do God allow bad things to happen to His faithful children? Jesus is the all powerful God. He came down to became one like us and died on the cross. By His stripes we are healed.

St. Catherine of Sienna reflecting on the image of Christ on the cross said, “The crucifix is an open book all can read. The crucifix is an infinite declaration of love”,
Christ took our failures, our sufferings, our pain upon himself. He became outcast and a curse. He knows no corruption for God the Father raised Him from the dead, therefore, we are saved and justified by faith in Jesus Christ.

The Jews opposed the Truth and the message of Paul for they justify themselves by their religious practices and works. The result of the next occasion was that the crowd grew larger and many believe in Jesus. Are you upset when God bless someone? Do you remove yourself from the equation just because a special role that you desire was given to another person?

Let us remember that the Lord of hosts , the King of Glory is still on the throne. For every believer who goes to the grave will rise up to new life one day. As we go about our daily task today, let us chase after Jesus with faith, hope and love just to grab the helm of your garment. O Lord. We wait for you. We welcome you. We believe in you and we trust in you. All the way to heaven is heaven for you said ‘ I am the way”

Peace be with you!
OSHO, OSJ.
